Restaurant Wedding Downtown Toronto | A Meaningful New Year’s Eve Celebration

March 28, 2023

This New Year’s Eve wedding at Ricarda’s in Downtown Toronto was an absolute vibe! I met Leighanne + Cody through previous clients and clicked right away. We had been planning their restaurant wedding for two years which made this party was well worth the wait. Leighanne got ready at an airbnb nearby in Toronto with her mum, sister and close friends. After hair and makeup, we went to the restaurant to take some photos. We snuck outside to Peter Street and found an epic alleyway for pictures. Cody got ready downtown Toronto at a friend’s house. I ended up taking photos of Cody and his best friends pictures in the Atrium and on Richmond Street. A perk of documenting a restaurant wedding downtown Toronto is using the busy streets for artsy photos.

ABOUT THE WEDDING CEREMONY IN THE RESTAURANT

In the Atrium at the restaurant, the wedding ceremony was lit with pillar candles and a white cloth aisle runner made by the groom’s mum. My favourite part about this day was that Leighanne and Cody had their life coach marry them. This special touch made for an incredibly authentic and meaningful ceremony. Leighanne changed into her second dress (Made with Love) and they did a ‘first look’ under the pillars. Both Leighanne’s dresses were from The Modern Bride located in downtown Guelph. Her second dress, Lola, had beaded sparkle lace with a structured corset bodice – the perfect party dress! The wedding reception was in the restaurant area at Ricarda’s with a very intimate vibe and only 85 guests. I loved using all the lights around the Atrium for dance party photos.
