I met Joanna and Ali at a friend’s wedding that I photographed in Diablo, California. The Covid restrictions made it very difficult to book their original date. This elegant and emotional winter wedding at The Elora Mill will be forever close to my heart. Take a look, and have a read of one of the most emotional winter weddings!
GETTING READY IN GUELPH
Ali got ready at his best friend Khalil’s apartment in Guelph, Ontario. They had some *very* fine scotch – a 25 year old McCallan. Joanna got ready at her parent’s home in Guelph too with all her favourite women (and her dad!) – we had a fun moment with her maid of honour, niece, aunt and mum steaming her dress for her.
AN EMOTIONAL CEREMONY AT THE ELORA MILL
The ceremony was at The Foundry Chapel at The Elora Mill. The building has a romantic feel with wooden chandeliers and reclaimed timber beams. Joanna and Ali had their friend officiate the ceremony which was incredibly emotional. The ceremony was at 5pm with natural light coming through the grand windows, and candles in the marble fireplace.
WINTER WEDDING FUN IN THE GRAND ROOM
With a big wedding party – 7 people either side – a total of 16 (including the bride and groom) – we had some fun walking across the pedestrian bridge over the gorge. We spent time doing photos with just Jo and Ali. I loved being able to honour Jo’s mendhi!
The reception was in The Grand Room, at the top floor of The Granary building on mill street. The Grand Room can accommodate up to 200 guests and has beautiful large windows that overlook the gorge and crystal chandeliers. One of my favourite things about The Grand Room are the custom harvest tables and the antique mirrors.
Their emcee, Rishan, put on the most incredible performance! He ended up introducing each speaker by re-enacting moment’s in Ali’s life! We ended the night with sparklers on the terrace with the wedding party. Such an emotional winter wedding.
